Newbrough Holdings
A lasting home for great businesses.
I'm John Newbrough. I want to buy a well-run business from an owner who's ready to retire, and be there myself on the first day and for many years after.
I've spent my career in the insurance industry, most recently as a senior executive operating a growing company day-to-day - the P&L, the marketing, the staff, and the unglamorous work of making a business run well week after week.
I live in the Richmond area with my wife and our three children. This search is close to home on purpose: I want to own and operate a business in the community where my family already lives, not run something remotely from a spreadsheet.
I'm buying one business. Not a portfolio, not a quick flip. I intend to be in the building, learning it from the people who already know it.

Selling a business you built is a personal decision before it's a financial one. Here's how I'd handle it.
Your name and your people stay.
I'm not buying a business to strip it down, merge it into something else, or move it. Your employees keep their jobs, and the business keeps its name in the community.
Discretion throughout.
Your employees, customers, and competitors don't need to know you're having a conversation. Nothing moves without your say-so.
You'll deal with me directly.
Not an associate, not a committee. I'm the one evaluating the business and the one who'll run it. What I tell you is what happens.
A transition that fits you.
Some owners want thirty days and a handshake. Others want a year. I'd rather learn the business from you than guess at it.
You spent years building something worth passing along. I intend to be a good steward of it.
I'm looking for one acquisition in the Richmond area, and I aim to make your job simple.
I respond quickly and give a straight answer - including a fast "no" when it isn't a fit.
I sign NDAs promptly and treat confidential information accordingly.
I'm pre-qualified for SBA financing and can speak to my capital structure on a first call.
I move to an indication of interest quickly when the business is right.
Whether you're an owner thinking about what's next, a broker with a listing, or an advisor who knows someone I should meet - I'd like to hear from you. Every conversation is confidential, with no obligation on either side.
